Cases of physical violence motivated by racism in Italy 2008-2020
In Italy, many physical violences have been motivate by racial hate. In some cases, this violence was cause of death. For instance, seven people died in 2017 because of racist acts, while 41 individuals were victims of violent actions. Discrimination and racism represent a serious problem in Italy. A recent survey shows that most of the discrimination acts in Italy occur for one's own sexual orientation, for being Roma, and for having a different skin color. In October 2019, the Italian Senate voted in favor of the establishment of an Extraordinary Commission to combat all forms of racism, anti-Semitism, incitement to hatred, and violence.
